Worship
Worship is an integrated part of who we are, as a people governed by the Holy Spirit.
John 4:23 – “But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshipers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him”.
John 4:24 – “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth”.
“What is true worship?”
Answer: The Apostle Paul describes true worship this way:
Romans 12:1-2:”I urge you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God which is your spiritual service of worship. And do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable, or well pleasing and perfect.”
Normally, worship is considered to be the singing part of a church service. While that is just one part of what worship is, worship is so much more than that. God is not interested in note forms of worship; He is interested in a heart that cries out to Him. True worship is a life that honours Him. Man and woman were created to worship God and even the hosts of Heaven worship Him.
True worship is God-centred worship. People get caught up in where they should worship, what music they should sing in worship, and how the
worship is presented to other people. Focusing on these things completely misses the point. Jesus says that true worshipers will worship God in spirit and in truth (John 4:24). This means we will worship from the heart in the way God has designed. It is the acknowledgment of God and all His power and glory in everything we do.
Worship includes praying, reading God’s Word with an open heart, singing, participating in communion, and serving others. It is not limited to one act, but it is done properly when the heart and attitude of the person are in the right place and tuned to God.
The highest form of praise and worship is obedience . To do this, we must know God; we cannot be ignorant of Him (Acts 17:23). Worship is to glorify and exalt God-to show our loyalty and admiration to our Father.
